Course Reserves
Placing materials on reserve
Course Reserves is a library service that allows instructors to make course materials available to students in the library and/or online.
Copyright and access
All electronic materials uploaded to Ares, the online reserves management system, are automatically accessible through Canvas. Items must have complete citation information and comply with U.S. copyright law and Emory's copyright policies. Find out more about course reserves and copyright.
Citations, Fair Use, and Plagiarism
Resources for Students
- The Citing Resources guide provides students with formatting examples for types of sources that are frequently used, in MLA, APA and Chicago. For other styles or types of resources, the Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University also provides detailed examples.
- The Milestone ePortfolio Citations guide focuses on citing digital assets and other sources that may be included in the Milestone digital portfolio.
Resources for Faculty
- For information relative to copyright and applying fair use, visit the Emory Libraries Scholarly Communications Office's Using Copyrighted Works page.
- The Turnitin Originality Check tool is embedded in every Canvas course. Visit the Using the Turnitin Plagiarism Checker page for instructions on how to get started and a sample paragraph to include in your course outline if you intend to do so.
